J2ME(TM) Connected Device Configuration (CDC), Foundation Profile,
and Personal Profile is the Java technology designed for consumer
electronics and embedded devices based on J2SE(TM) technology. A set of J2ME(TM)
Connected Device Configuration (CDC), Foundation Profile, and Personal Profile are
positioned as the technical successor of PersonalJava, which is pre-installed on the
Sharp Zaurus(TM).
As performance and footprint optimizations are strongly required for such resource-
limited devices, the CVM Virtual Machine built-in the CDC not only fully supports the
specifications of Java Virtual Machine, but still designed to work with much less
resources.
This implementation is designed to work best on Sharp Zaurus SL-C700, fully tuned and
optimized to perform as a part of enterprise solution. It also incorporates HotSpot(TM)
technology for CDC to provide higher level of virtual machine performance and is ported
to work with Qtopia for graphics performance.
Because this new Java technology is based on the J2SE JDK 1.3 APIs, it offers higher level
of friendliness with J2SE(TM) and J2EE(TM) technologies and is the best suited environment
for enterprise solutions and applications.
