"Mrs. Davenport Succumbs At 86[Written 26 September 1949]

Mrs. Mollie Davenport, 86, Attalla, Route 1, died this morning at her residence after an illness of ten days.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Cave Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Miller and the Rev. Leonard Franklin officiating.

Mrs. Davenport was a member of the Cave Springs Baptist Church for the past 35 years.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Gertie Keith, Mentone, Ala., Mrs. Barney McClendon, Attalla, Route I, and Mrs. Ruth Ford, Glencoe, Route I; three sons, Marshal Davenport, Gadsden; Roy Davenport, and Ross Davenport, Attalla, Route 1; two half brothers, Charlie Gray, Valley Head, Ala., and Tom Gray, Fort Payne, Ala.; 30 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Active pallbearers will be Horace Davenport, Ernest Davenport, Clyde Davenport, Charlie Keith, Launer Ford, and Hollis McClendon.

Burial will be in the Humphrey’s Cemetery with Woodliff Funeral Home directing. "
