Narrative |
Faye Reynolds found an Agnes who married John White (son of Robert White) in 1760 Craven Co, NC. Only record is a land deed in 1764 where John and Agnes White sell the land his father, Robert White, deeded to him in Craven Co, NC. This John White died bef 1790 (location unknown) and Agnes is on the 1790 Craven Co, NC census. She is shown with 1 male under 16, and 4 females, being herself and daughters Fanny, Elizabeth and Nancy. Son, Vincent is listed a few houses down from her and her daughter, Ferebe was already married to Samuel Deloach. Agnes "Aggie" White died in 1793 according to her estate papers. In her papers, she named her children as Ferebe, wife of Samuel Deloach, Fanny, Nancy, Elizabeth, Vincent and Robert (youngest son). However, this account doesn't explain Nancy White being born in PA - perhaps they moved during the Revolution? Faye Reynolds speculates, "One thing that might should be considered is that John White, like Robert White in Dobbs/Lenoir Co may have been quite prominent and went to PA during the Revolution. Robert White of Dobbs/Lenoir Co's son, William, was the 2nd NC Sec of State. His sons were connected by marriage to Gov Caswell's family. "
From Lanita Sconce Smith:
"Craven County Deed Book 29, p. 493; 12 May 1792 James Taylor sold land to David White, for 20 pounds on South side of Neuse River, West side of Core Creek, it being part of a large tract granted to Jeremiah Slade. Beginning at the creek run, with courses of the patent near the lands now in the posession of the James Taylor, then North East to the Creek run, up the creek to the beginning. Wit: John Beasley and Samuel White."
