ah ha! found them in 1885 KS Census, Nemaha County as "F D & N M Gage" with children "Ralph Smith and Danah Smith" (James Riley also in hh), so Smith was her married name.

Home in 1900: Clayton, Payne, Oklahoma (as "Nancy M Gage" and "Mandana I Smith")
Home in 1910: Stillwater Ward 4, Payne, Oklahoma as "Nancy M Smith", "Dana Smith", and "Dana Pierce"
Home in 1920: Stillwater Ward 4, Payne, Oklahoma (Nancy Gage and Anna Pierce, sisters)
(Also in Payne County Census of 1920 as "Nancy M Gage")

Conjecture: From photo of Frank D Gage take in Stillwater before he died Feb 18, 1896, I believe they may have joined the Oklahoma Territory Land Rush in Payne County 1889.
