Citation:
Walter and Elizabeth with their younger children John, Josias, Sufferanna and Mary, sailed from Southampton on April 24, 1638 on the ship "Confidence", arriving in Boston. Walter gave his occupation as linen weaver and his age as 55 years old. Walter's son John had possibly come to Massachusetts the year before and stayed in Watertown with his aunt, Elizabeth Read. Also traveling with Walter, and listed as "servants", were John Blandford, 27; John Riddet, 26 and Richard Biddlecombe, 16. Another passenger on that ship was Peter Noyes, who would help Haynes govern the Town of Sudbury for many years. [1][3]
