from LDS IGI OPR record M118892 for marriage of "Jane McIlmine" and "William McCrobert". The only other IGI record in Galloway is for "Johne McIlmine" who married Agnes Forsyth in 21 Nov 1668. This is quite a stretch of years tho, and "Haugh of Urr, Dalbeattie, Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland " is quite far away from Bladnoch south of Wigtown where Janet's father was located. Instead, christenings of Janet and Margaret in Kirkmichael (1697 & 1704), daughters of John McIlmine, and both married in Wigtown, suggest they came from Kirkmichael, Ayrshire. McIlmine/McIlmune's go back generations more in Kirkmichael.

An "Alexander McIlmyne" is in the Wigtown Hearth Tax of 1691 along with an "Alexander McRobert"

But, John was in Kirkmichael, Ayrshire, Scotland before 1700. The Ayrshire Hearth Tax List does not show a McIlmine/McIlmune there. but there are 2 in Maybole, others in Auchninch, Croftnook, and Drumshang. Kirkmichael is only 3 miles east of Maybole - the others quite far west.

In 1615, a Will was registered for one Johnne McIlmun in Cowgraine, parish of Roisnaith, county Glasgow.

In Janet's marriage to William McCrobert her father is described:
"25 Mar 1721 William McRobert son to Thomas McRobert in Ballaird Kirkinner and Jane McIlmine lawful daughter to John McIlmine in Boathouse of Bladnock in Wigtown intimate their desire of Marriage and after orderly Proc. was Married here on 25th March 1721"

Mains Farm was just south of Whithorn town, about 10 miles south of Bladnoch. Could this be Janet McIlmine, wife of Thomas McCrobert, who had Janet in 1704?
