I met my grandfather once. He did not know where hammon came from into
Alabama,some where in Indiana Illinois area. the name is German.
Grandfather served Co.1 3rd confederate cavalry
Samuel Plumer Durand SR. Had a nurse untill age of nine and was kept in
dresses and gold jewelery his mothers influence [Mary C. Plumer.
Your great Aunt Kate Bottoms {nellies or nana sister] was born crossing the plains. their wagon and the Dr. pulled out of the train for a time at Fort Cummings
in what is now New Mexico [I think]. Nellie Bottoms was born at what is Moreno Dam in San Diego county first blue eyed child the Indians had ever seen.
there parents divorced a scandal in those days. Aurelis Jane remarried a man named Korker from Kork County Ireland. John Thomas never remarried.
I never saw Mrs Korker, [Aurelia Jane Hargraves Bottoms] but once, not tall but beautiful white hair black snappy eyes. all the girls had blue eyes.
Aurelia Jane Hargraves and John Thomas Bottoms left Sulphur Bluff March 1 1869 they came from Red River area of Texas, very northeastern area.
