I believe dad met Linda when she was a hostess at Fournou's Ovens attached to the Stanford Court Hotel, Nob Hill, San Francisco. The restaurant had just opened and was very upscale and luxorious at the time. "The legendary Fournou's Ovens, where chef James Beard trained a generation of chefs, including Alice Waters and Paul Prudhomme, was closed [in 2008]"

They lived in Linda's apartment at the bottom of the "crooked street" Lombard.
