There is a Hannah Simmons b. 2 May 1752 to Nathan Simmons and Sarah Balkam in Windham, CT Vital Records but she appears to have married Hezekiah Linkon 2 Feb 1771 and had numerous children by him thru the 1770's and 1780's. She died 20 Oct 1831 in Whitehall, Washington County, New York.

Jonathan Simons b.1759 New London, CT d.1847 Arkwright, NY. He was son of Joseph Simons and Mercy Bill and named a daughter Hannah ( possibly after his sister?). Couple other Hannah Simons in that line too.

David's brother Abel is mentioned in the same document as an Edward Simmons in Newport, RI
http://trackingyourroots.com/FranklinGenetics/research/RhodeIsland/October%2021,%201780-American%20Journal-ProvidenceRI.pdf
He is probably Edward b.1730, son of Joseph Simmons and Rebecca Wood. No Hannah in his extended family.

Another Simmons line from Plymouth, Mass to Litchfield, CT has a Hannah Simmons born 1746 to Job Simmons and Abigail Parris. Job Simmons son of Job Simmons and Hannah Bishop, except that Hannah married David Aiken and moved to Worcestor, MA. 5th great grandson of Hannah Simmons, Monte Smith, has numerous DNA matches to these Simmons.

The 1774 Rhode Island Census has only Seamans in Scituate, RI. These are descendants of Thomas Seamans from Swansea, MA. 3 sons moved to Scituate, and one of them, James had a daughter Hannah (1736-1736). It was common then to name a subsquent child after one who died in infancy. 3 more daughters are recorded: Tabitha, Ruth, and Susannah. Ruth died in infancy too. Tabitha died 1772. Daniel Wood married Tabitha then Susannah and remained in Providence, RI. Monte Smith has 7 matches to these Seamans.

Shared DNA segment found between descendants of Hannah Simmons and a descendant of these same Simons in Windham, CT. The father cannot be identified but is certainly a descendant of the patriarch Robert Simons (1645-1724).

  Narrative

Ruth Curtis named one of their children Simmons Philander Curtis, so that is probably the correct spelling of Hannah's maiden-name.

Most trees on ancestry.com have different parents for Ruth Franklin Curtis and Maxine Driggs Belnap lays out why David Franklin and Hannah Simmons are correct.

"Families of Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania" By J. Kelsey Jones, 2010
"David Franklin b. 8 June 1749 (vr) Scituate, Providence County, Rhode Island son of Uriah Franklin and Abigail Colvin. The death of Uriah is recorded in the Maple Root Church of Coventry, Rhode Island. His will was made 17 Jun 1788 and probated 17 Oct 1791 Windham County, Connecticut. Voluntown is given as the place of residence in the Will and they resided in that portion of Voluntown that became Sterling in 1794 when Sterling was formed from Voluntown.

David Franklin m. Hannah Simmons b. before 1755. They were included in the 1774 Scituate, Rhode Island census with one male over age sixteen (b. before 1758), one male under age sixteen (b. 1758-74), one female over age sixteen (b. before 1758), and two females under age sixteen (b. 1758-74). David’s brother Uriah Franklin and other Franklin family members were enumerated on the same page. He is believed to be the David Franklin listed in Colonel Crary’s Rhode Island Regiment during the Revolutionary War. David was enumerated in Coventry, Kent County, Rhode Island in 1790 with one male of age sixteen and over (b. before 1774), three males under age sixteen (b. 1775-90), and four females in the household. Enumerated in Sterling, Windham County, Connecticut in 1800 (Sterling was formed in 1794 from Voluntown) with one male of age forty five and over (b. before 1755), one female under age ten (b. 1791-1800), one female of age ten and under age sixteen (b. 1785-90), and one female of age forty five and over (b. before 1755).

David appears on a special assessment of Tioga and Delmar Townships, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, dated 7 Oct 1814 when it was submitted to the commissioners of Tioga County. This was a special tax enumeration of the two townships that existed in the entire County at that date. David Franklin is listed as age 65, farmer; along with John Franklin, age 25, farmer and David Franklin, Jr., age 30, farmer. David appears on the first assessment list of 1816 (compiled fall of 1815) of Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania. Their residence was in eastern Jackson in the vicinity of where Daggett and Jobs Corners are now located. David is not enumerated on the 1820 census of Jackson, but appears on the 1820 assessment list (compiled fall of 1819) as well as the 1821 and 1822 assessment lists. The 1820 census is only two pages for Jackson Township and a name is cut off at the bottom of the first page. By tabulation this household had both a male and a female of age forty-five and over. Further analysis of the forty households of Jackson Township in 1820 indicates that a little over half of the households resided in that portion that became Rutland Township, which had not yet been created. Those on the first page lived in present Rutland and those on the second page in present Jackson. It is not known if the household that can’t be identified at the bottom of the first page was in present Rutland or Jackson. David appears on the 1823 and 1825 assessment lists (1824 is missing). There was a David Franklin who located in Freedom, Cattaraugus County, New York between 1823 and 1825. Jackson Township residents Reuben Daggett, Jr., and Jane Briggs, and Eliphas Lafferty and Mary Gallea and near neighbors of David and Hannah while in Jackson had settled in Freedom about 1821. David and Hannah perhaps removed to Villenova, Chautauqua County, New York, which borders Arkwright in the same county where son David Jr., and family were enumerated in 1830 and daughter Hannah Weaver and family resided.
