"jailhouse journal", Vol IX No 11 April 2000, published by the Simpson County Historical Society, Inc., 206 North College Street, Franklin, Kentucky 42134. Huffines, Mrs. Mary 3 February 1885. Mrs. Mary Huffines, wife of the Rev. E.A. Huffines, was born in Macon County, Tennessee, December 19th, 1825. She professed religion in 1845 and joined the Methodist Church. Was married to Brother E.A. Huffines, Dec 31st, 1844. Her maiden name was Mary Casity.
In 1859 Bro. Huffines and family came to Simpson County and settled in the Round Pond neighborhood where Sister Huffines died February 3rd, 1885, and was buried the following day at Round Pond.
She was the mother of ten children, seven sons and three daughters. Three sons and two daughters still lived to mourn the loss of a loving hearted mother. Four sons and a daughter preceded her across the river in early childhood. Sister Huffines was remarkable for her uniform kindness, consistent pious life, constantly exemplified in her domestic life. Soon after marriage she joined the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She made her husband happy and her children loved her with unusual devotion. She was truly a help meet to her husband whose life has been devoted as a minister and witness of the cause of our Lord and Master Jesus Christ.
During her long affliction she constantly expressed a desire to depart and meet those of her children and friends who had gone before. An attack of pnuemonia, added to her previous affliction, soon cut her down. Her life--what a rich inheritance to leave to her family--a godly life, a happy death. FRIEND"
