Floyd, Edna Christian

NASHVILLE/WHITE HOUSE — Edna Christian Floyd, 86, died June 26, 2003, at Richland Place Health Center. Her entire life was devoted to the pursuit of spiritual perfection, and her shining example will live on in the lives of her loved ones. Ms. Floyd was the daughter of Pearlie Sloan and Oliver White Davenport Sr. and a native of Nashville. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John D. Christian Sr., in 1956; son, John D. Christian Jr., in 1964; and second husband, Lee Hoyt Floyd, in 1998. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Ruby Carter, Ovia Mae Gore, Una Thurman; and brother, Oliver White Davenport Jr. Survivors include her daughters, Doris C. Howey of Goodlettsville and Jeanette C. Stephens of Clarksville; sons-in-law, G. Glenn Howey and Bruce W. Stephens; grandchildren, Gordon Howey, Pamela Tooley, Kristi Meacham, all of Goodlettsville; Karen Primeau of Haymarket, Va., Debra Dailey of Manitou Springs, Colo., and Nelson Moores of Knoxville; 13 great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Carter of Hermitage and Dorothy Reeder of Joelton. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. today at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville with Dennis Kinnan officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. today in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Waynesboro, Tenn. Pallbearers will be Gordon Howey, Nelson Moores, Chuck Tooley, Zachary Tooley, Eric Howey and Glenn Howey. The family wishes to extend gratitude to all those special caregivers at Richland Place Health Center, whose names will not be mentioned but who know in their hearts who they are.
