found only in 1850 census in Samuel Sloan's hh. Kay Davenport says a "Charles Booker Ferris" went with Joseph's family to Grayson County, TX (before 1870). She suggests he was adopted by his sister after she married a Ferris. The 1850 census is unclear what is his last name was originally - Davenport or Sloan.
