Narrative

Made a freeman of Fairfield 13 Oct 1664. Was first a tailor, then an innkeeper, and eventually became a large landholder. He died when his sons were young and unmarried, and was buried on land belonging to him at Frost point, overlooking Long Island Sound. This place was know n as Couch Burial Hill.[v56t0536.ged]

Will 22 Dec 1687 proved 15 May 1687/8; wife Mary; eldest son Thomas; 2d son Simon; 3d son Samuel; brother's son Thomas Couch that lives with me; brother's dau. living at John Grumman's ; cousin Susannah Couch living at Milford; eldest daus. Mary and Martha; daus Sarah and Hannah.
