SMITHERS -- Maxine Virginia, 81, long-time Owasso resident, was born August
2, 1918 in Tulsa, OK to Richard Roy and Leslie WILKINSON GOREY. She was
married to Ross SMITHERS, August 18, 1940. She was a member of the First
United Methodist Church in Owasso and the Owasso Historical Society. She
passed away Saturday, July 1, 2000 at Tulsa, OK. Loving family members
include 3 nieces, Daleen GOREY, Tulsa, OK, Sue GOREY BUXTON of Dallas, TX,
Gail GOREY JACKSON and husband, Dave of Tulsa, OK; sister-in-law, Arlene
GOREY of Tulsa, OK; great-nephew, Jimmy Dale WILLIS of Broken Arrow, OK and
his father, Jim WILLIS of Jay, OK; 4 cousins, Floris ROSS of Collinsville,
OK, Lois WILLSEY of Tulsa, OK, Byron CARNES of Tulsa, OK, Jeanne COLLINS of
Littleton, CO; and many dear neighbors and friends. She was preceded in
death by: her parents; brother, Dale Richard GOREY and husband, Jimmy Ross
SMITHERS. Visitation for Maxine will be 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 4,
2000, Mowery Funeral Service, 9110 North Garnett, Owasso. Funeral service to
be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 5, 2000, Mowery Funeral Service Chapel
with Reverend Chris Tiger officiating. Interment to follow in Fairview
Cemetery, Owasso.
