Birth Name Veatch, Garrett Wall
Birth Name Esquire

Gender male
Age at Death 82 years, 11 months, 21 days

About 67 years old.
[I] have been acquainted with Joe [Carver] about 30 years.
I was intimately acquainted with Cornelius Carver for about 30 years before he died, and lived within four or five miles of him a portion of the time and in from 2 1/2 to 3 miles the balance of the time. I did have a conversation with Cornelius Carver in 1865 in the presence of my son W. T. Veatch in which he said that the Soldiers had taken off his stock, fed out his corn, and eat up and destroyed his bacon, that his negroes had been freed and that he was pretty well broken up."
