Robert was a sergemaker. He first settled in Exeter, and he moved to Hampton about 1650 or 1651. He was a selectman of Hampton in 1653 and 1664; jury 1653; grand jury 1662; was a freeman April 1663. (Dow reported that he was from County Devon. Later research, however, has corrected this.)
