"I have been researching Mileys in Pike county, IN, for many years.The Mileys settled in that area early 1800's, and used the same given names within the families, complicating research.I believe David Miley Jr. b. Apr 15, 1798 in Kentucky is the son of David Sr. and Catherine Miley (haven't found a marriage record yet, so don't know her maiden name.) I believe that David Miley Sr. is the same person who was born June 30, 1769, in Pennsylvania.A baptism record for John David Meylin from Tabor First Reformed Church, Jonestown, PA, says he is the son of Martin and Catherine (I believe this to be Catherine Fortney) Meylin; his grandmother, Ann Sabina Meilin sponsored his baptism.David Miley Sr. had a brother Henry Miley and a sister Anne Sabina Miley Bowman.The brothers migrated from PA with their parents, stayed a while in Washington Co. MD (Hagerstown area) then to the Shenandoah Valley, VA, and finally settled in Jefferson County, KY about 1797 (Martin Miley appears on tax lists that year.)In 1801, Martin Miley died and his wife Catherine was named administrator of his estate.Henry Miley and David Miley were sureties.Martin Miley had 100 acres on Harrods Creek and a lot and house in Jeffersontown when he died.In 1802 the land is split into two 50 acre parcels. Henry Miley appears on the tax list in 1802 with 50 acres; David Miley appears on Jefferson Co. KY tax list in 1806 with 50 acres.Sometime after that, the brothers migrated to Pike County, IN, and settled there.The house and lot were inherited by Anne Sabina Miley Bowman who lived in Washington Co. MD, and were subsequently sold.I constructed the David Miley Sr. and David Miley Jr. families from various records, by the process of elimination, and cannot tell you positively I am correct."
