"It appears John Prince was much older that his wife Elizabeth Freeman. According to the land deeds of Brunswick Co., VA, John's first wife was Lucy. It is not known if John and Lucy had children. In 1825-26, Tennessee land grants were given to Elizabeth Prince and Jesse Prince. Their grants adjoined the land of Lewis Freeman. It is thought that this Elizabeth Prince is the widowed wife of John Prince, and the same person as the Elizabeth Freeman who married John in 1787 in Brunswick Co., VA. Lewis Freeman had a lifelong close relationship to Jesse and Zachariah Prince. His wife's name was Preshia..." [Preshia Prince b.1791-1886 - probably d/o John Prince and Elizabeth Freeman]

Hypothetical brothers & sisters based on associations and the strength of DNA matches between descendants.
Joseph Prince went to Rutherford Co, NC and appears in 1790 Census there. Next door are Ben Freeman, then Jesse Freeman, then John: West half of Rutherford became Buncombe Co, NC in 1792. Jesse Prince in Buncombe 1820 may not have moved. Elizabeth Prince land grant in 1826 Anderson Co, TN specifies it is next to Jesse Prince's entry ( 1 day later in 1826) and "E. Prince's" [prob. Edward]
1830 Census of Anderson Co, TN has "Edward Prince" and "Numon Prince" ( Jesse), plus a younger John in Elizabeth's hh: ---> some trees claim this is Jonathan Prince b.1817 son of John, Sr and Elizabeth Freeman, but they also include William Prince born 1821! Both are sons of Jesse Numon Prince. |
