Carol, I do not have any info on Catharine Young Brewton (may be spelled Bruton). The AR. Pope Co. marriages shows the name as being Brewton. Mark Prince came to AR from Jackson Co., AL born 1817/1822 Franklin Co. TN. Catharine Young was born 1814 in Kentucky. Mark's parents were John Prince born abt. 1780 in VA or NC, died 1828/1830 Jackson Co. AL. Nancy Prince, do not have a maiden name, born 1789, SC, died 1863, Jackson Co., AL. Mark & Catharine had the following children: Ellender, born 1843 John McFadden Prince, born 1846, died 1866 drown in Petit Jean River, Pope Co. AR. Nancy born 1848, Aaron O. Prince born 1852. died 1877, Pope Co. AR. Thomas Prince (No info)

Some think this is John, Sr but more likely to be a 23 year old John, Jr, except Franklin Co, NC is not near Rutherford.

  Narrative

Note from Mike Landwehr: 'Proof that Nancy Prince's husband was John Prince, the following item is from the December, 1823, minutes of the Primitive Baptist Church on Larkins Fork [Jackson Co, AL]: "Received Brother John Prince and Sister Nancy Prince, his wife, by letter." Five new members were received into the church at the December meeting' including Jeremiah Williams who went to Hot Spring Co, AR like Zachariah Prince.

"Nancy loses church membership around the time of Owen's birth:
According to the Minutes of the Church, John and Nancy were members of the Primitive Baptist Church on Paint Rock River, joining by letter December term 1823. In the July term 18324, John Prince was chosen to serve as a Deacon. In August 1824 he begins to serve the Church in the office of Deacon. In August, 1826 John is mentioned as a member of a committee. In the May term 1832, Nancy is excluded: "Reference taken up again Nancy Prince; the Church excluded her for the sin of being unchaste, and she is no more of us."

===> Smith Co, TN is more likely him because a Peter Prince lived there too ( Zachariah named a son Peter ), except this Peter born before 1776, but still might be a half-brother from John Prince, Sr's previous marriage.
