BIOGRAPHY: A Genealogical Dictionary of the First Settlers of NewEngland: Of Springfield, Massachusetts; he saw fidel. 1678, was freeman (or Free Mason?) 1690.
This is likely the Thomas Stebbins who was fined, along with 5 other young men, in 1664 for "fast riding." The fine was paid with one shilling to the Informer and the rest to the town of Springfield. Thomas was the builder, in 1679, of the first schoolhouse in Springfield, MA. In his will, no sons were mentioned, and his property was left to three daughters.
