Narrative

Thomas J. Cassell was born in Jessamine County, Ky. He studied under private tutors and was one of the most thoroughly educated men in the state. He read medicine under Dr. Satterworth of Lexington, but, due to his health failing, never practised his profession. He was a pharmacist for many years. He retired in 1867, ten years before his death. In religion he was a Methodist, in politics a Whig.
