There were two George Bunkers, both of whom came to America about the same time and who, we believe, were cousins from the Tingrith area.
The George who married Elizabeth Godfrey came to America about 1650 and by 1652 was in Topsfield, MA. He died young (in 1658) but it was his family who founded the NANTUCKET branch of the Bunkers.
The cousin George married Judith Major, and he was the one who owned the land on which The Battle of Bunker Hill took place in Charlestown, MA."

The Bunker Family Association has this biography of George Bunker of Nantucket:

  Narrative

mtDNA match between a descendant of Elizabeth Bunker and a descendant of Martha Bunker proves Elizabeth Godfrey was the mother of all children. George Bunker's marriage to a Jane must have been either after Martha Bunker was born, in the 2 years before he died, or is the same person.
