Narrative

John Ferry, oldest son of Charles and Sarah (Harmon) Ferry lived to the age of 80 years. He was one of the Selectman of Springfield for ten years between 1712 and 1728. In 1722, he was named land measurer and he held the military title of Lieutenant. He was also a member of the committee to lay out the town bounds of Sheffield, Massachusetts. The Mass. State Archives shows that he swore allegiance on the last day of Dec 1678 or the next day. There is some confusion over the marriages of John Ferry, but it is certain he was married four times.

Three times his children were left motherless as infants!
