Revolutionary War Pension Applications - http://revwarapps.org/s3143.pdf
"The file includes a 31 July 1837 letter apparently written by Cassetty from Bagdad" On Fold3! He hires a lawyer to obtain his pension ( after 6 years of failing to do so himself). Some curious syntax: [will not pay the attorney unless he is successful] ...and if you do not no pay as my fate is bad and I am not will able to pay something if I do not get in that way...". Even by 1840, commission was still denying his application. Not clear if he was ever paid.

Served under Capt William Cherry, 4th Virginia Millitia
"Capt. William Cherry was from Jefferson County, W. Va., where he kept a tavern on the site of the present Charlestown. In 1776 he was commissioned lieutenant in the Fourth Virginia Regiment, becoming a captain in 1777. He was put upon the supernumerary roll in 1778, and after being commissioned for Crockett's battalion opened a recruiting office in the vicinity of his tavern."
