My Family Tree

Current Indiana Marriage Records database says "John Miley" married "Mary Ricks", but there are no contemporary records for any other "Ricks" in Knox/Gibson/Pike. Far more likely see is Mary Richey , d/o Joseph:

original transcription of marriage is "John Miley" & "Mary Richs" March 20th 1816 Hosea Smith, esq
(Hosea Smith also married "Mary Miley" and "Moses Herrel")
a few entries later is this:
"Gideon Richee" & "Nancy Woods" 15th May 1816 in Gibson Co, IN
"John Richie" and "Polly Woods" 8th Aug 1817 in Gibson Co, IN
In census' and family trees this name is more often "Richey". Generation older Richey in Gibson Co, 1820 is "Joseph Richy" (b1776-1794). John Richey moved to Lawrence Co, AR 1844. John and Gideon are probably related because John named a son Gideon.

Finally, John Miley and John Richey served in the same company in the War of 1812.
