Narrative
Of that part of Springfield that was later incorporated as Longmeadow.
In 1796/7, the town voted to erect a monument in his memory and for his support of the church and schools. The inscription reads: Mr. Nathaniel Burt a respected and worthy Father of the town of Longmeadow was born A.D. 1636 and died Sept. 29, 1720. This monument is erected to his memory by the said Town as a token of gratitude for donations in land made by him to them for the support of the gospel and public schools.
