==> not real likely he was born 9 years after his father died! perhaps Francis was an uncle or Orville was a son of Richard from an earlier marriage. Also might have been son of Joshua Hale of Sullivan Co, IN. Other Hales in Sullivan (Richard Hale family) included a Noah whose photo strongly resembles Oliver.

Ruth Eads Kendall , Gibson Co, Marriages also has marriage of "William Hale" to "Mary Ann Gayer" in Feb 20 1839 and a marriage between "Mary Ellen Hale" and "William Catlin" Mar 27 1839.

based only on Land Grant to "Orville Hale in Pike Co, IN 1st of June, 1848
and that he married "Rachel Chambers" in 1850.

Story says Orville, s/o Orville, had a grandfather who was John Chambers...:
"John II had ambition and tried, but didn't get far. He was a womanizer. An older cousin told Orville Hale when he was a youngster that "our grandfather had lots of women." He was in court more than once on charges of adultery." [Orvil Hale to kk91]
