David McRoberts broke his father-in-law (James B. McAtee) out of jail. (This is the reason for the alias of JAMES KARL PATTERSON.) He was accused of forging a check from his uncle who had not paid him for the horses he sold him. The key to the jail is still in possession of one of the McRoberts family members.
