Narrative
On Oct. 31, 1831, Peter and his wife, 2 babies, and his sister, Cynthia, started from Sudbury, Vt., in a covered wagon and 6 weeks later arrived in Madison Township, Richland Co., OH., where his wife had 2 sisters living, (Mrs. William Stewart, and Mrs. Horatio Harmon). In 1832, he moved to Pittsfield Township.
From their son, Pitt's, obituary (public member story on ancestry.com)
" Pitt McRoberts was born on the farm where he died on the 22nd day of December 1834. He was the third son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter McRoberts, who came to Pittsfield from Vermont in February 1832, being the twelfth family to settle in that township. At that time the whole county hereabouts was an unbroken wilderness, not a tree having been felled where Oberlin now stands..."
