Farmer,
Civil War - Co. E 42nd Regiment Indiana Infantry Volunteers as a private, U.S. Army. Enlisted September 25, 1861 at Princeton, Indiana age of 19. Persiion papers state he was dark complexion, grey eyes, dark hair, 5'8" high. November 1862 wounded at battle of Chaplin Hills, Perrysville, Ky. The injury resulted in amputation of his right leg. He was discharged December 17, 1862 at Louisville Kentuckey. It is believed he was a prisoner at some time during the war, but this has not been proved. He wore a wooden leg.
